Thanks to everyone who tried out the latest demo of Super Motherload at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo this year! This was our very first time exhibiting at a comic convention, and it was cool to see that fans of comics share a similar love for our games as well. We had people aged 4 (a little girl dressed as a princess) to 64 try out the game with great interest, and there was a core group of boys who camped out on the floor for a good portion of their day strip mining mars and upgrading their pods to the max. The centre was packed with people dressed up in costume; one of the most impressive being Dr. Arliss Loveless (pictured in his wheelchair) who graciously posed in front of the XGen banner for a few photos! Thanks again, and we hope to see you all next year!

Here’s a little teaser of the character selection screen mocked up.
We’ll be at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo this year showing off a brand new demo version of Super Motherload. Come by booth 718 from April 27-29th at the BMO Centre in Calgary to test it out, we’ll be handing out some post cards because I know how much expo-goers love free stuff! Come chat with us!

What a week! San Francisco is beautiful, and we’re overwhelmed with the positive response that Super Motherload received at GDC. We handed out a couple hundred post cards, and our second limited  run of shiny Super Motherload coins is long gone (sorry to those of you that didn’t get one!). It was surreal and fun to meet and chat with so many fans of the original Motherload, and especially exciting that they shared a similar enthusiasm for the sequel. Thanks to everyone who dropped by our booth and tried out the demo!

Not only was it a joy to meet and talk with people from around to world (Australia, Ireland, France, Germany, Czech Republic, and Japan to name a few), but we also received valuable feedback that will help us work out the kinks and really focus our limited-budget indie development efforts on what matters most. We came back from the conference with a renewed energy for the project, and we’ve already been buzzing around more than a few ideas based on the observations you folks made while playing the game.

See you again next year!
